IMAGES OF WROSE, BRADFORD

Born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in 1977, my family moved to Wrose in Bradford when I was just two years old. In the many years since then, I've moved away to University and even the Middle East, but I still return to Wrose frequently.

These two photographs you see below were taken in May 2002, after a tremendous day of rain. As dusk descended, the sun came out and the sky turned an amazing colour. With my trusty 35mm Pentax SLR in my hand, I rushed outside to capture it on film. When I got the prints back, it's fair to say I was pretty chuffed with the outcome.

I took this from the driveway of my childhood home on Finsbury Drive in Wrose. The sky really was this brooding and atmospheric. I've seen nothing to rival it since. In 2003 the Castleford-based artist Joanne Shaw used this photograph as the inspiration for an oil painting, which you can see here.
Prints available at sizes: 7 x 5 (£6), 10 x 8 (£12) and 18 x 12 (£20). Please email jaw@jawaddington.co.uk to place your order.

This shot was taken from Wrose Playing Fields, close to Bolton Woods quarry. I spent many hours playing football and sledging on this field when I was younger. Again, a truly amazing sky.
Prints available at sizes: 7 x 5 (£6), 10 x 8 (£12) and 18 x 12 (£20). Please email jaw@jawaddington.co.uk to place your order.
